Boswellia Serrata

Hi Tex and all, I found this study on Boswellia Serrata and Collagenous Colitis and thought is was worth sharing. 400mg three times a day....I'm going to give it a try :) Anyone else take Boswellia? Here's the study from PubMed. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17764013/

My observation in the 13 years I have been part of this forum is that people only visit the forum when they are having troubles or they are newly diagnosed.

once people get stable remission, they visit the site way way less.
additionally, more people are using social media rather than visit the forum.

Looking at the old posts, you might want to send a private message to the people who did post about using it and see if they reply.

Did you try the Boswellia Serrata protocol? If so, has it helped you? I sure hope so!

This is a following up on my earlier post on April 2nd sighting a study on Boswellia Serrata and Collagenous Colitis. I started taken Boswellia twice a day in early April 2023. It is now mid December 2023. I have been taking Boswellia 100mg twice a day. I do take other supplements including Curcumin but Boswellia was the only new addition to my daily regime. I had already added psyllium capsules that had helped me with better poos but my symptoms were still luring but not too terrible or long lasting.

I have been (dare I say) in remission since late August. Remission meaning no diarrhea...well formed poos usually once in the morning. I can barely believe how normal I am feeling. I started feeling more stable after about 2-3 months. I have stopped loosing weight and I have gained 5 pounds. All of this tells me my absorption of food is improving. I am still careful with my diet but I have been able to expand it carefully without any ill effects. I can now eat fresh fruit in moderation, even blueberries :). I eat lean poultry and fish and veggies cooked until soft. I stay away from too much fat and still do not eat dairy, gluten and many grains. I have not been able to eat nightshades or high oxalate foods for many years so those are still not part of my diet. I did have gf pancakes for dinner the other night and it was so nice! The main food group I have not had the courage to try yet is raw veggies..like salad. I am trying to work up my courage. I haven't had a flare for so long I'm afraid to take the chance just yet.

So I just thought I would share in case anyone would like to try adding boswellia into their diet to see if it would help.

I don't really have an opinion on supplements such as that, since they don't provide a significant benefit for most MC patients, but if someone is close to remission, and can't quite get there, because of low to moderate background information that refuses to recede, then it's probably possible that they might be beneficial. But if there's a major inflammation issue, such as a contaminated diet, supplements of that type don't have enough inflammation suppressing power to make a difference.

Completely agree Tex....I do believe that this supplement has helped me in partnership with the two years of a limited diet gradually reducing inflammation and improving symptoms. I do not think that just taking Boswellia while eating whatever one wants would be enough. I also don't know from the published study if the participants were on any food restrictions...or what kind of health they were in when they began the trial. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17764013/

Just wanted to share how I'm progressing with the careful diet and suppliments that seem to be helping me. The primary supplements that I feel are helping me the most are psyllium, curcumin, boswellia and fish oil.

The only way to know how critical boswellia is would be to stop taking it.......and I'm too happy to got there ;). Thanks for your feedback and for all you do for us.
