Itchy Hands after Going to the Bathroom
I was recently diagnosed with micro colitis. Oddly enough, I do not have frequent diarrhea. However now and then right after I go to the bathroom the palms of my hand itch horribly!! I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this? Thank you!!

Re: Itchy Hands after Going to the Bathroom
Thank you for asking. No, strangely enough it must be something happening inside of my body after going poop. I have had this happen with all different soaps and toilet paper. And it has not happened many times with the different soap and toilet paper. Sometimes, I develop hives and many times I go and no itching at all???
Re: Itchy Hands after Going to the Bathroom
If you're experiencing hives with the reaction, that's an IgE-based reaction, so it's definitely a classic allergic reaction based on an external stimulus, such as the paper, or soap. Or something else in the bathroom that you're touching. It might be possible that it's a reaction based on internal body chemistry, such as histamine, in which case the trigger could be something such as hot water. But if histamine were the problem, you would almost surely be reacting much more severely after eating high histamine foods. Of course, those reactions would occur hours later.
And if you are reacting to warm/hot water, taking a warm shower or bath could be a major problem.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex, Thank you for your response. I have recently read that skin rashes, eczema and hives are symptoms associated with micro colitis in some people. I realize it seems really strange, but sometimes the palms of my hands itch horribly bad immediately after going to the bathroom. Mark
