Lip Balm too?

Post by jlbattin »

I'm also looking for a good lip balm that is gluten and soy free. I've tried Hugo Naturals and Red Apple products and nothing compares to my Burt's Bees (but it has soy in it). I live in Colorado so I need something very moisturizing.

Thanks.

Jari, I use Badger unscented lip balm, really like it and think it fits the bill for you. You can get it at Vitacost. They also have one with sunscreen in it, but I get complained at every time I use it because it leaves white lips.

Hope this will be helpful to you, took me forever with lots of emails, etc. to settle on it.

i use coconut oil, yep the same as what you can use for cooking!!

its cheap. I use a small container (like you would use for salad dressing for a lunchbox) to carry some in my handbag.

My niece sell Younique products, and says that all their lip products are gluten free and soy free. You might check that out. They are a direct sales company, so you have to order from a rep or on line. I don't think they sell in stores.

Hi Jari,

http://www.lypsylhome.com/

This is working for me really well, no soy....I found it at Walmart of all places. It lasts a long time and my lips don't flake or peel from it. I put it on before bed too.

I agree with Gabes. Coconut oil is the best, in my opinion. I also use it as a moisturizer on my face too. At first it feels heavy but once you get used to it, it feels great. People regularly comment on how I have few wrinkles. I'm 63 and have been using it for at least ten years.

HERBAL - MINT ingredients: 100% grass-fed tallow, beeswax, organic essential oils of spearmint, basil and orange.

UNSCENTED ingredients:100% grass-fed tallow, beeswax.

VANILLA ALMOND ingredients:100% grass-fed tallow, beeswax, vanilla oleoresin, almond extract

For me, now that I know beef is a 2+ on my enterolab results....does that mean I can't / shouldn't use my beloved tallow lip balm?? I was going to make bacon grease soap from all my bacon drippings too, but I got a 2+ for pork as well. Are we that sensitive??

There's a good chance that after you've been in remission long enough, and you've healed well, you may be able to use products like that. If I were still recovering, though I wouldn't use it now, because our lips are part of our digestive system, and they're very absorbent. Whether it bothers you now, will depend on how sensitive your immune system is at the moment, because it can easily become hypersensitive during MC reactions. Also, sometimes we lick our lips before we even realize that what we're doing may cause problems

Looks like i'll have to learn how to make my own then! Just ordered some mutton tallow on etsy. Tallow seems to be so effective at actually deeply moisturizing my chronically dry lips. Apparently tallow "is Latin for sebum due to the fact that tallow is nearly identical to the sebum our own skin secretes". Vegetable oil-based products seem to just sit on top of my lips. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
