Perianal Abscess Removal

Post by Cran3 »

Hey folks. I posted on here a couple days ago about being diagnosed with Proctalgia fugax, but it appears what I actually have is a perianal abscess. I’m getting it removed this morning, but I’m curious to know how many others have had this and if you have any tips for post-op care/cleaning the area? Of course, they’re giving me antibiotics to take, so I’m not thrilled about that colon-wise, but I know these things can get infected quickly if you’re not careful, so I’m having a bit of a worry episode over it. I’d appreciate any guidance. Thanks in advance. :)

Hello, Stephen. I don't have any experience with this, but I hope the procedure went well & you're feeling okay. Following the discharge instructions is the key to proper healing. Take care!

Thank you so much, Marcia. I appreciate your kind words. I’m doing much better now. Three days post-op and not in as much pain.

sorry for late reply

coconut oil is a good option - it will work as a barrier cream protecting wound site and assist healing
