Remission?

Post by annoyingsquirrel »

Hoping I’m in remission! Diagnosed 30 days ago started GF/DF/SF. On holiday now sticking with protein (chicken/pork/beef) rice/potatoes. No fruit or veggies (little broccoli). Will try adding more veggies when we get home. Also will be adding magnesium and vitamin D. Been swimming in Mediterranean daily feel like helping with healing-will miss it! Have been having healthy #4’s once daily. When going on road trip with family took 1 Imodium if needed for insurance but when I do get some C and don’t have BM for 2 days so only using as needed. Drinking 8 oz black coffee in AM and PM without incident. Added GF pasta and egg white omelet NP. Also had bacon (a nice break from having Greek 0% yogurt with honey daily for breakfast). Such a challenge vacationing here in Greece surrounded by bakeries and yummy food I used to be able to eat but I’m sticking to my diet; I want to heal. Also been loving a sesame/honey treat daily (in a granola type bar) with no problem. Wanted to thank this community for all their stories and advice, I learned SO MUCH! Will be continuing diet for another month then start to add back veggies as I feel like my body needs them. A special thanks to Tex for responding so quickly to my private messages when I began asking SO MANY questions! So very patient and helpful to a newcomer like me. The only advice I received from my doc was to take Imodium as needed, keep a food diary and don’t make any lifestyle changes. My on-line research discovered this awesome forum and after purchasing Tex’s book and reading all the amazing posts realized I had to change my diet if I wanted results, I hadn’t had any really bad WD or any other symptoms, just 6 months of soft morning stools with 2nd BM WD when my journey of discovering began( as I read a long time ago if your BM’s change something is going on). After multiple doc and gastrointestinal doc visits/as well as elimination diets Doc recommended colonoscopy to check for MC and here I am. Since diet modification everything moving along much better with well formed BM. Thank goodness! I’m praying it lasts.

Your recovery appears to be on track. I hope it continues to go well.

Thanks for the update.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
