Good morning :) I received the results from my enterolab testing while I was away in Europe and I couldn't really delve in to them. I am back home now and thought I would ask a couple of questions. Before going on vacation I was in an active flare and got some budesonide so I could travel a bit easier and more enjoyable. My rx is a 12 week taper. I'm working on putting together a safe foods list and my gut is telling me I should avoid the triggering foods while on the budesonide taper even though my WD is under control because of the steroid. Is this correct? Since my Mean Value 11 is high @ 32 should I avoid all of the listed foods even if it was only a +1 (white potato was the only thing listed under +1, all the others were a higher value; rice was a +2 which makes me really sad). By the looks of the results it seems advisable to only use exotic meats, plus lamb and seafood other than tuna, as my protein source correct?

Re: Enterolab results in!
My suggestions
Definitely avoid trigger foods sooner rather than later - if you start to have constipation reduce the Budesonide dosage at a faster rate.
Avoid +2 and +3 foods totally - depending on other aspects you might be able to have white potato a few times a week (I wouldn't have it daily)
but for now to reduce inflammation and optimise good healing avoiding known triggers as much as possible is advisable
and yes - having other meats than Tuna, chicken and Beef is best option
Your gluten result is high - are you already gluten free?
the soy result is also high - soy is common in gluten free pre made food products / flours etc so check ingredients for this
Also check make up and moisturisers, lip balms - anything with Vit E in it will have soy
To expand on the white potato thoughts
with healing my eating plan is as follows
1. staples, foods I can eat every day
2. occasional foods - I can have 2-3 serves a week
3. treat foods - small serve once a month
4. Never foods - avoid at all costs and be aware of contamination etc

Re: Enterolab results in!
Thank you for your advisements Gabes :) I don't believe I was gluten free at the time of my testing. I think I was in a f*** it mood for a bit because I was exhausted from trying to manage and having no results. I work at a grocery store and it's really hard to "be good" sometimes. The soy could be from edamame as my husband and I like to go out for sushi or it could be hidden in a supplement or something. Not too sure but now that I know it's a huge trigger for me I will watch more closely. Considering pork was my lowest trigger it should be ok in a rotation of maybe once a week? Should I avoid all fruit as well while on the budesonide except bananas? The main reason I ask is because Ireland kissed me goodbye with Covid and I am trying to get some antioxidants in. But if it will do more harm than good I will stop.Gabes-Apg wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:17 pm

Re: Enterolab results in!
In early stages of healing the fibre and sugars of fruit tend to be an issue for most people
Even now after years of good healing, I can only do low fibre fruits as a treat (small serve once a month)
I am allergic to Banana's so that was never part of my MC eating plan
