I was just diagnosed with MC. I am aware that I have dealt with this condition for years on my own. After numerous and futile attempts to figure out my symptoms through Drs who kept telling me it was IBS, I took it on as food sensitivities and chronic fatigue on my own. The ongoing stress these past 2 years from my job in healthcare took my symptoms to a new level and a colonoscopy and biopsy gave my symptoms a name.
I am working on Budesonide (6 mg as the 9 mg resulted in side effects) and diet elimination. I have a head start from the years of noticing foods and my reactions. I am determined to take this on and learn to manage it. My frustration right now is the terrible and nonstop fatigue I am experiencing. For years I have had bouts of fatigue and fibromyalgia symptoms and was able to get myself out of it with diet and lifestyle. I am unable to figure it out during this flare. I am pretty sure the stress from work is keeping me from remission. (This job will be ending soon and I am sure will be life changing). In the meantime, I am looking for solutions to help me with the fatigue to get me to the finish line.

Re: Fatigue!!!
Hi Sheri,
Welcome to the group. Fatigue is a very common symptom of this disease. The Microscopic Colitis Foundation published a newsletter that discusses this topic in June. You might find it helpful. For your convenience, here's a direct link where you can either read, or download a copy of that newsletter:

A few months earlier, they published a newsletter that contains an article discussing the brain fog that's associated with MC. In case you're interested in that one, here's a direct link:

Yes, stress is a big trigger for MC, and sometimes it can trigger a relapse, despite our best efforts. Regarding your diet, are you carefully avoiding gluten, casein, soy, and chicken eggs? We're all sensitive to gluten (despite our doctors' insistence that we are not), and most of us are sensitive to all, or most of the other three foods mentioned. I hope this is helpful. Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
