Yak meat should be a safe alternative to beef.

I was intrigued about yak meat and read up about it. It turns out that both in Tibet and elsewhere in the world, yaks are often hybridized with domestic cattle. So I would check to see if the meat is from a true yak, or a hybrid. Bison meat has the same problem, as bison have been extensively crossbred with cattle.
