Hi,
Been on and off of budesonide for two years. I have LC and CC. Was on budesonide from Feb 2023 until Nov 2023, with a slow wean off of drug. Had a minor relapse in Jan 2024 and I am currently back on budesonide, 1 pill every other day. Everything is stable. I am gluten free for over a year. Started dairy free and soy free in December of 2023. Question is can I get Enterolab testing now or do I have to wait to be totally off of Budesonide?

Extended use of any corticosteroid, including budesonide, leads to suppression of our immune system. Under such conditions, antibody testing can lead to inaccurate results. The greatest risk is false-negative results. It takes a while to clear budesonide from our bodies, after weaning off it. Therefore, the safest option would be to call the lab and describe your history of taking budesonide, and ask them how long you should wait before collecting a sample for any EnterraLab tests.
