HRT and MC
Hi - I am 62 and on HRT (Low dose Estrogen patch 37.5 and Prometrium Progesterone 100mg). Diagnosed LMC Sept 2023. Wondering if any women have stopped HRT and seen an improvement in their MC. Thanks!
Re: HRT and MC
Hi,
Welcome to the group. If you do a search of the archives (using the search box at the upper right of the page), you'll find many pages of old posts from the past, where HRT was discussed. The general consensus of opinion seems to be that yes, HRT appears to be a problem for many members here. That said, I get the impression that in many cases, bioidentical hormone treatment can be used without negatively affecting MC. There's no general rule, because we're all different, and medications affect us all differently. Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Re: HRT and MC
there is big relationship between hormones and MC
Many women aged 50-60 their MC started when Menopause started
Women of all ages report issues with their MC during different parts of their cycle, one aspect of this is magnesium. Hormone changes depletes magnesium. Are you taking Vit D3 and magnesium?

Re: HRT and MC
I'm on bhrt. I started the hormones in April of 2019 after suffering for about 4 years with all the peri meno symptoms. My MC reared its ugly head sometime in the later part of 2017 (I think). I wish I would've kept a better diary. I went to see my dr in Jan of `18 for a c-diff test. Are they correlated? Possibly. I noticed for years that my stools would get mushy right before I was about to start my periods but then normalized; until sometime in 2017/18. I will not give up my hormones even if it is correlated. Too many health benefits connected to estrogen and progesterone and my quality of life is better. I can't imagine hot flashes and everything else associated with meno PLUS diarrhea. If I can't bring myself in to remission through a low FODMAP eating plan and staying away from triggers then I will take as minimal of a dose of budesonide as I can get away with. Or Pepto to help manage frequency of WD. There was a time when the pepto didn't do a damn thing for me but now it does help some.
Re: HRT and MC
Hi Patty,
I use HRT ( DYDROGESTERON 5 mg and ESTRADIOL 1 mg) since 2011 and my MC started a year earlier.
I reached remission years ago by diet while taking the hormones. I can't live without them. Several times I tried to stop, but the symptoms returned always. So I decided last years that I will continue.
Success!

Re: HRT and MC
Same here regarding the hormones. I'm not giving them up. How awesome that you put your MC in remission! The longest stretch I've had has only been a couple of months. How much time did it take you to reach remission after taking the diet seriously? I think my problem was too early and too much re-intro all at once. It's so hard to limit a food if I see improvements; I derail myself with lack of patience :/Savitri wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 12:07 pm Hi Patty,

Hoi Patty
I posted my story at the department of the success stories under the name 'seven years on my successful journey to healing' in 2018.
I am really happy to know all my food triggers, because that makes it easier to deal with my MC. I had a serious flare recently (never had such a flare since my diagnosis in 2011) and thanks to Tex I am now recovering just by following my 'normal' diet and avoid stress.
So, I am happy with my HRT and diet. Success!
