First Step

Post by JJ »

Hi all....I made it through the first step. My landlord wants to keep me as a tenant, so told me it was OK for me to become a host mother to International students. I contacted the local community college, and they are sending me an application....yea! If this happens, it will really be a financial help to me. My friend at work may do it again too so our kids can get together. I am hoping for 2 girls...my friend hosted 3 boys and they ate a ton! So...things are looking-up. I have been working on letters and will send several off tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed....TTFN...JJ

That's great news!

Yep, boys can eat a lot--they're mostly hollow. LOl.

I hope you luck out and get the girls, especially if you're paying for all the groceries.

Good news, Jill!

A friend of mine who rents to college students says the girls run up the energy bill - with requent long hot showers/baths! I guess there are advantages to both.

Love,

Polly

Hey Jill, I hope this works out great for you! I hope you get some interesting kids. What a wonderful service you are providing even if you get some bucks for it. Celia

I found that girls go through the hungry stage much earlier than boys. I remember my daughter at 13-14 telling me that the only time she wasn't hungry was the 15 minutes after dinner. She grew to 6'.

I can see the electric bills being higher and the phone! There are so many more shampoos, conditioners, makeup, etc. that girls "need". Oh well, at least they usually do less damage to things like walls, lamps and cars.

It's a good thing you're doing, enjoy it.

Love, Jean
