Constipation Help

Post by emlepage1 »

Hello,

I usually have D but the past couple of weeks I have had very bad C. I have increased my cooked vegetables, drinking a lot of water and decaf teas, even a little caffeine in the morning , I am taking Magnesium Citrate at night.

I am now considering Milk of Magnesia or Miralax. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Elaine

Have you tried increasing your fiber intake? For example, if you eat rice, switch to brown rice. If you can tolerate corn, and you're not already using them, add a few corn tortillas to your diet. Or try eating a bag of popcorn at night before bedtime. Making microwave popcorn is fast and easy.

Thank you so much Tex, you are always so kind to respond.

Unfortunately, I don't usually tolerate corn or rice ( I start to get joint pain and get very tired) . I can't tolerate pork either. I usually just eat a few foods ( eggs, zuchin cooked, buckwheat flour, sorghum flour, arugula) Since I do tolerate buckwheat flour , maybe if I start to eat the groats that would be more fiber. . I could possibly try brown rice, I have only tried white and that did not go over well. ( years ago I did the Entero lab test and was pretty much sensitive to everything including rice and corn) I seem to be extremely sensitive to carbohydrates, I do believe I have some type of chronic systemic candida or mold issue.

I did try the MOM and it did help some so it is a start.

Thank you again for your suggestions. I really appreciate you and this group. It is wonderful to know I can come here and get help.

if the EnteroLab test results showed that you react to rise, then it's probably not a good idea to be eating rice. How about some of the other natural laxatives, such as flaxseed halls, or psyllum husks?

some suggestions to help with constipation

- increase water intake
- increase fat/oil intake (fatty meats or spoonful of coconut oil in the morning)
- increase magnesium intake either orally or topically or both (this helps the muscles relax for the poop to pass
- drinking bone broth made from safe meats

are you taking Vit D3? this also helps reduce inflammation

- gentle fibre, peeled apple eaten slowly peeled pear eaten slowly

are you getting good sleep/rest? I have constipation issues when stressed or overtired. I will do magnesium foot soak, have a rest, have a drink of bone broth and within 6 hours I will poop

hope this helps

Thank You very much Gabes. These tips are really helpful. I am very stressed right now adjusting to a new job and working very long hours and getting up at 3:45 every morning. I do try to go to sleep at 9pm so I get at least 6.5 hours.

If I eat too much fat I get very bad heartburn. I always have acid but it gets worse if I have too much olive oil and sometimes meat but I could try bone broth.

I will try increasing the magnesium, I do take vitamin D but need to be more consistent . I will also try the foot soaks, that sounds wonderful.

I am avoiding fruit because I think I have chronic candida of the gut . Basically, I am a mess right now.

I am also having a terrible mast cell flare which I guess is for another post. I keep hoping it will calm down.

Thank you again.

Thank you Tex, the last time I tried flax meal a couple of months ago I had terrible pains so unfortunately that did not work. Same with the husks.

The histamine issues (mast cells) and the reflux are both indicators of magnesium and B6 deficiencies

both these nutrients are essential in moderating bile acids and histamine
Also try other fats, rice bran oil, coconut oil, and see if they cause reflux

progress not perfection
it will take a few weeks of regular Vit D3 and magnesium to improve things
magnesium spray in a small bottle that you can spray on your belly/top of your legs through the day will help

Thank you Gabes! I currently take a B Complex, do you think I should just do B6 alone?

is the b complex active forms or inactive forms

we do recommend taking active B12 and active B6 (P5P).
if you are taking inactive forms and have methylation issues you are not converting the inactive forms into usable forms

Hi Gabes,

How do I tell if it is active?

It is Pure Encapsulations B-Complex Plus. It says B12( as methylcobalamin) 16.7 mg

Vitamin B6 (activated)

Not sure if the B12 is activated.

Thank you,

Yes, that's the activated form. Most cheap vitamin B12 is cyanocobalamin, but the activated form is methylcobalamin.
