Constant nausea

Post by ammer_86401 »

I was diagnosed in 2019 with microscopic colitis. in 2023 I began having severe symptoms which included vomiting along with the diarrhea and low potassium levels. I was tested and did not have CDF I was placed on.mesalamine 1.2 gr tablet and pantoprazole 40mg. It seems recently every month I have had a bout of both nausea and vomiting. I relate this to going off my diet(Oreo cookies/pudding) but my question is I eat dinner and 6 to 8 hours later I wake up vomiting and having diarrhea. It takes me 7 to 10 days to recover from every bought I go through. The nausea is uncontrollable. I take Zofran and that no longer seems to help I can control the diarrhea with cholesrermine powder twice per day. It is just the nausea that is making my life horrible. Does anybody have any suggestions. I do have a doctors appointment scheduled. Thank you for your responses.

Hi,

Welcome to the group. Six to eight hours is the normal time to a reaction for most of us, following an exposure to gluten. If you're not eating gluten free Oreos, then that's the cause of your problem. If you are eating gluten free Oreos, then the excessive amount of sugar is causing your reaction. If they contain artificial sweeteners, then that's your problem, because most of us can't tolerate artificial sweeteners.

Back when I was initially reacting, over 20 years ago, I also had a severe nausea problem, except that I had nausea almost daily, most of the time. Years later, I discovered that I had a chronic magnesium deficiency. MC depletes magnesium. Budesonide depletes magnesium. Many antibiotics and other drugs deplete magnesium. Many other things, including coffee, for example, deplete magnesium. Magnesium deficiency can cause nausea.

Again, welcome aboard.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
