CC with Constipation and IBS-C
I was diagnosed with IBS-C, and then CC was found when I had my colonoscopy. My GI doctor is not treating me for CC because I do not have the typical symptom of diarrhea. I have been on a low fodmap diet for the IBS-C, am gluten free, and have tried every drug available for IBS-C. I am currently taking IBSrela, which gives me diarrhea, and I still don't feel well. I am vegetarian so the low fodmap diet it is very difficult, and it only helps somewhat by reducing gas. Most of the treatment advice for CC that I find is for those with diarrhea. Is there anyone in a similar situation who has found relief through diet, supplements, and/or medication? Any advice you can share would be very welcome. I do have an appointment soon with a dietician through my GI doctor. I'm thinking its time to focus on the CC.

Re: CC with Constipation and IBS-C
welcome
my MC journey at one stage was constipation dominate, this was an indication of magnesium deficiency
my MC safe suggestions for constipation
increase water intake
increase safe oils / fat intake (as you are vegan try coconut oil )
gentle fibre
oral magnesium
topical magnesium (lotions, spray or foot soaks)
are you taking Vit D3? have you had your levels checked recently?
Vit D3 and magnesium are key for multiple reasons
reducing inflammation, helping muscles push through the poop, optimising healing etc
what are you doing for relaxation?
hope this helps

Re: CC with Constipation and IBS-C
Thank you so much for your reply!
I take acacia fiber twice a day and Vit D 3 daily (and get my level checked regularly). I had been taking quite a bit of magnesium and reduced it when I started the IBSrela. I did tolerate it well. I think it is time to stop the IBSrela and add back the extra magnesium to see what happens. And I just ordered a magnesium cream.
I do get in some relaxation - walking, journaling, diaphramatic breating, yoga stretches, and guided meditation when needed. And I am going to be starting a gut-directed hypnotherapy class.
