Help I need to take antibiotics

Post by lilbits@144 »

I am in panic mode right now. I have been doing stage one diet with some success however today I realized I have a UTI. I am terrified that going on antibiotics will put me back in another "event". Please advise.

The safest antibiotics for treating a UTI are ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin. They rarely, if ever, trigger an MC reaction. In fact, they usually will stop an MC reaction while they are being used. Note that they contain all sorts of black box warnings about tendon damage and other issues, so you may have to argue with your Doctor to get a prescription for Cipro, but it appears (based on my research, and my personal usage experience) that those black box risks only occur if a user is magnesium deficient. Note that Cipro depletes magnesium and magnesium interferes with the effectiveness of Cipro, and that's probably true of levofloxacin, also, for all I know. Be sure that you seperate taking the two products (a magnesium supplement and Cipro) by at least three or four hours to make sure that one does not interfere with the other, and make sure that your magnesium level is adequate before you start the antibiotic treatment.

I took Cipro for many years whenever I needed an antibiotic, and never triggered an MC reaction, but over the decades, I eventually developed an allergy to it after I developed an allergy to Bactrim. so these days I use azithromycin (Z-pack) whenever I need an antibiotic (for issues for which azithromycin is effective).

I hope this helps.

It's as effective as Cipro for treating UTIs. It carries a risk of pseudomembranous colitis(but probably so does Cipro) so be sure you start taking a good probiotic the day the antibiotic treatment ends, and continue taking the probiotics for a couple of weeks, to prevent a C diff infection.
