UTI issues related to MC?

Post by lilbits@144 »

Hi Peeps,

In the past 7 months I have had multiple UTI events. They occurred prior to and after my bad flare in July of this year. I am 68 years old and haven't had a UTI since my 40's. My question is could MC be causing this issue? Two times, doctors commented on my severe dehydration after looking at my urine. Thoughts?

If you do a search of the archives, you'll find that over the years, other women have complained about recurring UTIs when their MC is active. Apparently it's a risk facilitated by the design of the female anatomy. The close proximity of the digestive system's discharge ports facilitates contamination of the urinary system by pathogens in stool, especially if watery diarrhea is present. At least that's presumed to be the cause.

Many women regularly take D mannose as a preventive measure in order to prevent UTI issues.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks! I have heard of Mannos but never investigated it. I will now!

Also, dehydration is likely a contributor too. Your bladder isn't flushed out as often, and bacteria have more chance to grow.

The D mannose has worked well for me. Also, my veterinarian suggested D mannose for my female dog that kept getting UTIs, and it worked for her!

I can confirm that this is true because I had the same problem, but I didn’t treat it with D-mannose; I just increased my water intake

Hello,
My nutritionist also prescribed D-Mannose combined with a few drops of Bearberry (Uva-ursi) extract. And drinking a lot of water.
It worked very well for me.
