Following the message I read here where someone had sent a sample to Greece and had issues with the transport, I wrote again to Dr. Fine to ask for an update on the Greek laboratory and if it was operational yet. This was his response:
"Only about 1% of shipments have had challenges without explanation.
We cannot receive business from Europe until we establish a Greek company, which has not happened yet.
The current operation is the equivalent of the US operation being set up temporarily in Europe.
No analysis has actually occurred in Greece yet. I flew all specimens back to the US for analysis in mid-August.
You are welcome to keep checking.
The entity will be called EnteroLab Europe, so you will know it by that.

Thank you Marta, for that update. It's beginning to appear that the lab was moved to Greece without adequate planning. I can't help but wonder why they didn't file all the necessary paperwork, and wait until they received their certificates, licenses, etc., before moving the lab to Greece.

So you know why they decided to move to Greece? That seems strange after all the years and having an established lab here in the US....... It sounds like the US lab is still operational, at least for the moment.

I have no idea why they moved. I get the impression that Kenneth Fine is a very ambitious individual. He was diagnosed with MC himself. I'm not sure if that was before or after he became a gastroenterologist, but after discovering the Pepto-Bismol treatment, he decided to create the lab back in the 1990s.
As you may recall, they moved into new facilities (also in Texas) only a year or two ago. Thinking back many years, after the lab became relatively successful, he first tried "workshops" on digestive problems that took place in northern New Mexico during the summer, for a few years. then he decided to become a rockstar (complete with long hair and a guitar), and he tried that for a few years.
Somewhere along the line, he became a vegetarian (or maybe a vegan, I'm not sure), and he eventually began developing special supplements for treating gut problems. Then he developed a treatment program that started with a bowel cleanse (and fasting, if I remember correctly), followed by a few weeks of treatment, using his special (expensive) plant-based supplement products.
He's getting up in age, so it's anybody's guess why he decided to move the lab to Greece (of all places).

From all the emails I have exchanged with him, it is my understanding that they are not relocating, but are opening a branch office to service people in Europe. He suggested that I look for a lab in Barcelona that would be interested in doing their testing. Of those I consulted through my nutritionist, none were interested. Later, she told me that she had already found one in Athens.
I agree with you, Tex. Before you put the address and advertise it on your website, you should have the lab fully operational. The planning is not going very well.
