Calprotectin in Microscopic colitis

Post by Jimbo1968 »

My mother has been diagnosed with collagenous colitis some 15 plus years ago. She has had a recent bout of severe diarrhea, her calprotectin is 965 which I didn’t think was possible with microscopic colitis . She is also bloated , very windy and a loss of appetite and weight loss . She awaits a hospital appointment. Does any of this sound like it is the microscopic colitis playing up again ? Or could this be something else , what’s everyone’s experience? Many thanks for taking the time to read my post. Jim

I'm not sure whether calprotectin levels can get than high with MC. 965 indicates an extremely high level of inflammation.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
