13.8 µg/L of vitamin D is equal to 13.8 ng/mL in U.S. units. That's seriously low. You may need a larger dose than that for two or three months to get your level up to a safer range, and then check it again and adjust your dosage rates according to the results.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Tex, i had a feeling already.
It is a bit shocking that the result is still so low.
10.000 IU a day then?

Re: Anyone here get their vitamin D levels checked?
That should get your level up fairly fast, so after a few weeks or so, if it were me, I would taper down to maybe 5000 IU one day, and 10,000 IU the next day (to give an average of 7500 per day) for a few weeks, and then settle on 5000 IU per day for a while until I tested my level again. That said, it's not that easy to specify the dosage rate, because we all have different rates of vitamin D production (depending on our cholesterol level, latitude, skin exposure, time of year, etc.), availability of vitamin D in our diet, and our ability to absorb that vitamin D.
Be sure your magnesium level is adequate, because adequate magnesium is essential for the proper activation of vitamin D so that it can be used by the body. it's a good idea to take a magnesium supplement any time were taking a vitamin D supplement
The medical community tends to exaggerate the risks associated with vitamin D overdose. The literature shows that virtually all of the documented cases of vitamin D overdose are associated with at least 40,000 IU per day, for six months or more. Therefore, you should have plenty of leeway in your dosage choices.

Re: Anyone here get their vitamin D levels checked?
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
My cholesterol level is 209, non hdl 162. A bit on the high side I guess.
A few weeks ago I started again supplementing with magnesium and the methyl guard complex. I find it hard to take all these vitamins and minerals regularly. I do know it is important but having adhd doesn’t help.
Hopefully the values will stabilize a bit in a few months.
