It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Re: MCC questions, looking for new G.I. Doctor
It's been a rough year. Just like some folks have long COVID, I feel like I'm joining the ranks of us with long COLITIS! One step forward, two steps
back. Stress is for sure a trigger. I lost three family members the last six months and the last few months have been dealing with terrible insomnia.
Had my annual Dr.s appointment and discussed insomnia and my woes with the Physician's Assistant and she prescribed Lexipro, a SSRI. First day taking
10mg, felt dizzy and WD came back with a vengeance. I want to give it a try to help with insomnia and have a follow up appointment in five weeks. I don't feel depressed, just worry too much. I have tried the Veteran's Affairs CBT-i app, Melatonin, and an occasional Ativan.
Do SSRI's make Colitis worse? At my follow up, I'm going to ask about Cholestyramine.
Does a prescription of Cholestyramine require a revisit with a GI Doctor?

Yes, for most of us.Irma wrote:Do SSRI's make Colitis worse? At my follow up, I'm going to ask about Cholestyramine.
Most GPs are willing to write a prescription for cholestyramine, but to control MC with cholestyramine requires special knowledge. I would suggest two things:Irma wrote:]Does a prescription of Cholestyramine require a revisit with a GI Doctor?
First, read the newsletter published by the Microscopic Colitis Foundation back in January of this year. A copy can be read or downloaded at the following link:
https://www.microscopiccolitisfoundatio ... mplate.pdf
then read a post describing the use of cholestyramine written by Laine. The post can be located by scrolling down to post number nine at the link below:

These two sources will provide you with more information about controlling MC (successfully) by using cholestyramine than you will find anywhere else in the world.
I hope this helps.
