Hi All,
To give a little background: I was diagnosed with LC in May, 2017 and this forum was (and has been) the reason that I have been able to lead a pretty normal lifestyle. I've had flare-ups from time to time - I always stay away from gluten, dairy, soy and only eat egg if it has been baked. In December I reached out to you all for help with a flare that I could not get under control - I was down to 108 lbs. I scheduled my routine colonoscopy (which I should have done in 2022) but had to meet with the NP at my GI office due to the flare up and some blood in my stool. I got an Rx for Budesonide and was considering taking it again (only took for one stretch from 6/2017 - 2/2018) but did not take it - I was going through a lot of stress and when some of the stressors lifted, my GI issues improved dramatically.
I had my colonoscopy a week ago - everything looked normal but my GI did take some biopsies. The results came back today - "Colonic mucosa, within normal limits". If I recall the results from 2017, I believe they mentioned the presence of lymphocytic cells. Is it strange that it appears "normal"? I am definitely not taking this to mean that I can hop back on the gluten, dairy, soy train and fully intend to continue to follow my "safe" diet. Just wondering if this is what one would expect as long as you stay away from foods that can trigger reactions. I was expecting that there would still be findings of lymphocytic colitis.
I hope you are all well and am always grateful for your help - wishing you all the best!
Pam

Good for you.
If we're meticulous with our diet, many of us are lucky enough that the cellular histology in the mucosa of our colon will eventually return to normal (when viewed under a microscope). The healing process is slow, but it does happen, if we do our part.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thank you for all of your advice over the years, Tex! I surely wouldn't have gotten such good results without the help of this forum. Thank you for everything!
