I'm shrinking

Post by celia »

Hi everyone,

I got on the scale this morning and to my alarm discovered I am down to 101 lbs. My husband is going to freak out if he finds out. He's already worried that I am able to eat so few foods.

I guess I really took a hit when I took the ghee out of my diet and stopped the almonds. I am going to try the almonds again in moderation, and try to beef up my intake of olive oil. I will probably try beef again and maybe even pork chops. I eat a lot of fish from vital choice (low merucry) but it is really stretching my wallet. Any other suggestions are welcome, bearing in mind my wide range of intolerances.

I had a good night last night and only the slightest reaction, so I think I am getting back on track. Trying to eat just what I am confident are very safe foods.

Wishing you all a bright day, Celia

CELIA----we dont want you to become a *shrinking-violet*

Have U ever considered seeing a nutritionist--one that might specialize in mapping out an eating schedule for U---

I did that when I was @ my lowest and every moring I was down a pound also~~

I gave her all my issues and she then 1. gave me a booklet and then 2. cus I looked @ her :???: mapped out an eating schedule--putting in the good and taking out the bads~~~~

In between meals I have a little snack---
I now can fiddle around with many things---

My brother couldnt have potassium and a nutritionist *actually* went shopping with him and pointed out this and that---

It might be something to think about---cant keep shrinking away~~~

Take care--

Oma, you are the sweetest! I was 144 in 2001, so I know what that challenge is like. I'm sure you can do it!

I can eat about 20 lower starch vegetables, fish, and poultry. I'm trying out beef and pork now. Olive oil seems fine, but I have to avoid nut oils, because nuts are a problem for me. I might try some other oils. I got an olive oil mister like the one Matthew recommended in one of his posts many years ago, and really like it a lot. I seem to be able to tolerate almonds, not totally sure. But that helps weight wise. I could have more meat, but C. has been a problem so not sure that's a good idea. I'm probably the only person in this forum that thinks about C.!!!!

Thanks for the snack idea, but milk is not okay for me.

Don't worry, I am on it. Thinking fat!!!! Well, a little fatter.

Be well, Celia

Barbara,

It's very kind of you to think of me with all you have going on!

I think we must be on the same wave length  Just last week I decided to get in touch with a nutritionist, and found one with more up to date experience in food intolerance. I'll be having the appointment soon in a week or so.

Wow you were losing weight too. It's encouraging to hear your experience. Thank you soooo much

I will keep you posted.

Determined not to shrink too much...Warmly, Celia

Celia,
Can you eat any fatty meats? Bacon, pork sausage, beef? It might help in the short term.

Celia,

First, HOW ARE YOU FEELING? Do you still have symptoms?

Second, I think you are the perfect candidate for the elimination diet, you're pretty much already on it LOL! I think I can help you get back many foods that you haven't thought you can tolerate, but I will be brutal. I will ask you to temporarily suspend some of your thoughts on nutrition. The first thing that I will ask you to do is stop taking all of your supplements and vitamins. I know that will be hard for you.

I know I'm treading on thin ice here and I don't want to offend you in any way. I just think there's help for you (and I'm know for my fanaticism). I'll help you monitor everything you eat just to make sure you're not getting any hidden sources of your intolerances. What do you say?

Love, Jean

Dear Melissa,

Good idea! I am having pork chops today and managed to have a 450 calorie breakfast. I checked my calories for yesterday and they were about 1,000 so no wonder I am losing weight. I will try beef patties too. I have to stay away from sausages because of the spices and sugar. I react even to the ones from Applegate Farms.

Thanks for the great suggestion. Celia

Jean,

I'm feeling pretty good at the moment and my symptoms have subsided. I traced back when I ate some counter-idicated foods, and could see how my good days came at the end of their cycle. I am hoping to be completely clear in a day or two. I have a list of my really safe foods and I am only eating those foods, plus adding the pork and beef. As long as I don't react to them, I should be fine.

What an incredible offer to help me with an elimination diet! I am very touched. Since I am already scheduled to start working with a nutritionist next week, I want to give that a try. I think it would be too confusing to be working with two different people on my nutition program. But, if that doesn't work out, I will definitely consider your offer.

Brutal can be good! It requires a lot of disciplone to do an elimination diet. You are right, I virtually am on an elimination diet now. It might surprise you, but I did stop most of my supplements when I had this flare of reactions! I don't know why I was so dense about the magnesium with the glucosum, which I had just started taking for the first time, and was clearly the culprit.

Thanks again for your kind offer! Celia

Celia,

Good to hear about the nutritionist, I hope she/he can help! Let us know what happens. My offer is there anytime you want. Sometimes it just helps having someone else look at what you're eating.

It's great that you're feeling good. There's no way to judge how a food effects you when you already feel bad. You are through the hardest part of the elimination diet. You'll know when you eat something that you shouldn't.

I really hope you get more foods to eat. I feel deprived and I don't avoid all of the things you do.

BTW, watch the pork. It is often injected, even the fresh pork in the meat department. It will be labeled, in very fine print. I have never found anything added to beef.

You don't have to worry about discipline! You have enough for two people.

Love, Jean
