Psyllium Husk

Post by sketels »

Hello, I have heard a lot of positive things about Psyllium Husk with Colitis and just wanted to get any more info and feedback from anyone if they have had any experience with this. Thanks.

Here are my thoughts regarding psyllium husk. For most people, it will thicken loose stools. Whether or not it adds to the inflammation that causes MC (in other words, helps to perpetuate active MC) is currently unknown. In June of last year, the Microscopic Colitis Foundation published a newsletter regarding the use of fiber when treating MC. That newsletter contains their opinion on the use of fiber by MC patients. For your convenience, here's a direct link where you can either read, or download a copy:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
