Hi all,

I scheduled a doctor's appointment on April 19th and they have set aside 1/2 hour for my visit. I explained what I wanted and she gladly gave me the time.

I plan on printing out some of the sites, symptoms, and write a list of my concerns and the things I want to discuss. This will enable me to utilize "my" time as best as possible.

In the mean time, I'm going to continue searching and researching. Thanks again everyone! SOMETHING has got to change - can't continue on this pace for much longer. Soooooooo glad it's the weekend and I have NOTHING planned - might read the new book I bought a few weeks ago - "The Last Templar".

Love,
Mars

Since you've been on the diet for a while, are you getting enough calcium/potassium? One sign you aren't, is getting muscle cramps at night, or muscle burning during the daytime, esp the long thigh muscles.

For me, if I'm worried or stressed, I wake up at 4am on the dot, no matter how tired I am, or how late I went to bed. Also if I eat things like wheat, corn, grains I can't sleep, I've lately found out. Even if it's not enough to give me a stomach ache or D, I can't sleep. If I cut out grains, I sleep like a baby. I'm still in shock, because it's so noticable, and I just discovered this (after 11 years of dietary problems!!).

How about sinus problems? Are you having allergy breathing issues because it's spring?

We'll get to the bottom of this. Never Fear!!

Marsha,

Your recent observations about sleep and foods are very interesting.

Since I have such widespread intolerances, I can't help but wonder if some of us may have additional intolerances even after we cut out the biggies (gluten, dairy, soy, etc.). The biggies might solve the D. problem, but other foods can be responsible for other lingering symptoms. Like I haven't had D. for eons, but I still have lots of other problems when I eat certain foods.

Mars, this also came into my mind when I read your first post about your sleeping problems. It can be stress which does a number of the adrenal and immune systems. At the same time, if we have additional hidden food intolerances, these also effect those two systems.

My thoughts for the day! Celia

Stress - YES

Enough calcium/potassium? Probably not. I am having cramps in my toes and calf muscles. Been upping my banana intake but my doc says you can't get enough with banana's alone. I'll check with him again. I notice that the muscles in my bad arm are hurting also. Almost like a "pulled/strangled" feeling? Does that make sense?

Allergy season is upon me also. Headaches almost all the time but some are worse than others. The eyes are itchy and burn too.

Can you believe with all this going on that I still say I feel better than I have in a long time? Strange huh! I really do though although the lack of energy, headache and fogginess is back with a vengance today.

Sun is out, shining brightly and the birds are singing and the flowers are trying their hardest to bloom. It is pretty chilly though! Think I'll waste away a few hours and try to catch up on some sleep (or maybe I'll read), or................ :whatever: ! hahahaha

Mars,

Protein dieters do this - buy 80mg-200mg potassium tablets (we have potassium glucanate) and take one pill a day. It will stop the cramps and muscle aches within a few hours. In the "Protein Power" book I have by a Dr. Eades, it is one of the first things they say to do when you start the diet, because when you process protein, and drink lots of water, potassium gets washed out and you become deficient, and develop muscle cramps, and muscle "achey-ness", as if you had worked out, or were coming down with flu. (And it upsets your calcium/potassium/magnesium balance, which is all about sleep) Since you've been doing the South Beach diet, it was bound to happen to you. Vwa-la!! I bet this fixes you right up.

Anyway, that's my "non-medically certified" opinion, but I've used potassium for these symptoms, and it works. You should be taking calcium/magnesium, too, unless you're eating dairy and lots of vegetables, but I think you already are.

WOW - thanks. I'll try that. Also, thanks for the benadryl tip. Never thought of that - When I take it for insect bites, I have to sleep - It makes me pretty relaxed and tired.

Mars,
I know exactly how you feel. I have put it down to working too hard and being too stressed out. When this happens, I can't sleep, I have nightmares, my stomach flares up, I'm exhausted in the daytime and I make mistakes. I am infact, home sick today. I am going to make a real effort to review my lifestyle and try to make healthy changes. Also, when I use to work out at the gym, my sleep pattern was much better. Maybe we could exchange de-stressing ideas and help each other?

Ok, tried Benadryl last night since usually with insect bites I am out like a light when taking it.

It DID NOT work! I feel like I've been hit with a train today - still as tired this morning as when I went to bed last night. Still in that "aware of what's going on around you" sleep. I turned off al noise, (TV, etc.) thinking that might be part of the problems. NOPE!!!! I am really getting tired (no pun intended) of this.

Ok, done whinning for a minute!
