Waiting anxiously for the *real* spring...

Post by CAMary »

It has been a rough month - everyone sick - one with pneumonia - my cold is still hanging on and this weekend I think Mike and I had food poisoning....it hit us within an hour of each other. My goodness I Cr!#(*($* my brains out - worse than any MC episode EVER!! It felt like I had a freight train running through my gut - but felt much better after all that was done

We have had rain 21/last 25 days in March. It is now April 10th, and we've had 2 dry days - fortunately one was Sat. and we had Dan's birthday party here at the house - 9 kids - all had a good time! (Mike and I had hot dogs from our freezer and believe that was the culprit - so I tossed 'em!) We had a "camping themed" party - the kids roasted hot dogs (luckily the kids all ate dogs from a different package!) and marshmallows, made "dirt and worms" for dessert and went on a bug scavenger hunt in the yard - everyone got a flashlight and canteen for party favors - we told stories around the fire until the parents came for pickup...it was pretty neat and "non-commercial".

SO I desperately need to air my house out from all of the sickness - but it is too rainy - I probably need to get to work building an ark, as well! This rain is crazy - I could never live in the northwest!! I think I've headed off this cold from turning into a sinus infection (my greatest fear b/c of the antibiotics..) but the drainage and a little congestion is hanging around - a friend of mine said she had a cold for a full 2 weeks - it's nasty!

I have to birthday shop (Dan's actual b.day is Thursday) - Easter shop, plus my in-laws are coming next week for a visit - so I probably should clean  Mika & I did sort through some clutter yesterday and have some piles for ebay and Goodwill (between dashes to the toilet  )

Remind me of this post this summer when I am whining that it is 100 degrees! Ha!

Love,
Mary

Jill-

Dirt & worms is a kids' fave! You layer crushed oreos and chocolate pudding mixed w/Cool Whip in a cup - sprinkle crumbs on top and garnish with a few gummy worms!! A cooking project helped burn up some of the time and they all really enjoyed helping stir, crush cookies etc...

Oma- You are welcome to have the rain! People with hillside homes are having to evacuate - it's bad - highway 1, (which follows the coast) south of SF is washed out and closed indefinitely!

Mary,

What a terrific party!

I'm anxiously awaiting real spring too. We've had a few glimmers of sun, but the leaveless trees reminds us that spring has not popped.

Before moving to NY state in 2002, I lived in SF for five years and before that in Santa Cruz for a good 15 or 20. Sorry to hear about highway 1 south of SF. It's such a beautiful stretch.

I'm hoping for some warmth to come your way soon!

Celia
