New addition to the family...

Post by Peggy »

Sadly, my Duke birdie passed away. She went peacefully and she had a good long life. I waited an appropriate amount of time (IMHO) and now have a new member of the family.

Meet no-name birdie:

They had some time catching it at the pet store - it flew away after they took it out of the cage - chutzpah, I like that! I don't know if it's a boy or girl and won't name it until I get a feel for it's personality. Houdini comes to mind LOL. The poor thing is pretty quiet right now and just trying to settle in.

Hi Peg,

Sorry about Duke. The new addition is a "pretty birdie".

Sydney sends his regards.............

I have a new Grandbirdie

Post by Momster »

Haven't met the little one yet, but it will take awhile for it to settle in and doesn't need to be frightened by a whole lot of looky-loos.
Peggy's kitty, Buster, is really good around birds, but this one doesn't know that yet.
Mars - your Sidney looks like Duke did.
Peggy named her Duke before she knew she was a lady bird, which they found out when she started laying eggs.

I'm still busy making beaded birds and working on another eagle today.
I got some new beads at the bead store today that will look really neat for an eagle.
I want to do a purple hummingbird too. May attempt that one after I finish this eagle, which will be by tomorrow. Just have the wings left to do on it.

Anyway, I did a lot of running around today - manicure, shopping and the accountant to finish off my taxes (a nice refund this year).
So I'm off to get my pj's on and relax.

Night - All

Love - Momster :sleep2:

Yup, I was going to say, with Buster keeping an eye on it, I'm not suprised its quiet! Tigs sits out under our bird feeder hoping for a tasty treat, but I must say, he is a horrible birder. Even the wild birds have figured this out and don't squack when he comes outside, and will feed while he is sitting there. Its sad really. He is very good a rodent control....now if he could just catch the thundering herd in the home office ceiling we'd be all set!

Enjoy the new addition.

OK, I give up. What is that bird that you guys all have? I googled cockatoo, parrot and lovebird and nobody looked like that. They are very pretty. Do they talk? Sorry about Duke, may she RIP.

Hazel, both birds are a "cockatiel". Member of the parrot family even though they are pretty small. Our BeeBee is also a cockatiel (Pied version). In the past we have had one that looked just like Sydney and one that looked just like "No Name". They are great birds.
I don't have time right now to figure it out but I want to try and post a picture of BeeBee one of these days.
