Not sure what's goin on
Ever since I was diagnosed I have occassionally tried to see what happens with out meds. Well just for giggles....I have been three weeks without my Asacol. I stopped taking it to see if I could......I also discovered that my hair has thinned some, and I suspect it may be from the Asacol.
So far Knock on wood.....where's that third child of mine....anyway knock on wood, I haven't had any D. I have however been more careful of what I eat. I am moving forward with this carefully. If needed I can go back on the Asacol. Of course after my insurance kicks in....right around July third or so...I will most likely find a new GI Doctor.
I have had no mucus....no D (as of yet) and no cramps or grumbling in the intestines. I have Iliminated alot of gluten and have cut way down on sweet drinks....upped the water and green tea.
I just wanted to share with ya'll. Love Oma

I know you may be nervous, but it sounds like you are doing well.
I stopped taking Asacol last September. No D. No Mucous and I can eat anything I want (1st time in 2 years) I always wonder in the back of my mind when the shoe is going to drop but that only gives me stress so I try not to think about it.
I do, however stay away from alcohol, sorbitol, manitol, heavy creams and fried foods (even though I'll sneak some Burger King fries once in a while )
Stay positive,
Love,
Mo
