Saw a new bird
Ok It's new to me. Mike and I were having morning coffee outside in full view of the bird feeder and the Hummingbird feeder. There were two Orange colored birds, had head and shape like a robin but orange colored. Also!!!!!!I am excited to see the Hummers are back! We saw one hovering around the feeder. And One of the feeders is half empty. SO they have hit it before today. Wahoo! Also, we were sitting there and Buck went on alert....there crossing the yard was the fattest, biggest rat I have ever seen. I told Mike...get the pistol! But he laughed at me and said no. Then a large lizzard scurried across Bucks sight...drove him nuts. Then the rabbits came out eating seed on the ground under the feeder....the finches eating out of the feeder....the other little birds getting seed off the ground...enter the quail and doves....then the Red and Blue JAys came out...it was like a disney Bambi movie moment. We just sat there in silence and watched. And over to the right of our fiels of vision was a field with goats grazing. Birds landing in the freshly sew field we have.. It was awsome. My coffee got cold watching. Have a great SUnday all. Love Oma

Oh Oma,
That sound SOOOOOO relaxing - out in nature and enjoying the scenes. You are so fortunate that the world has so much to offer, right in your own back yard!
Enjoy your relaxing day/weekend!

Mars

I just discovered a new thing....Mike has welding things out in the shed. One of the tops that goes on the bottles (of welding gases) has a Nest in it. It sat there a week. Anyway the eggs as near as we can tell (don't want to pick them up) look to be whitish and almost a 1/2 inch in dia. Maybe less. I guess we will have to wait and see what they are huh? I guess It's silly to be so excited over bird eggs...but with the way mankind destroys things acouple eggs are exciting. There are two. Maybe a finch?

Oma, you make me homesick for Pa. I DO miss all the wildlife we saw there. Bill told me the first batch of bluebirds have ALREADY hatched. They apparently have become really dependant on him to help feed the babies. He didn't even get the meal worms (orders from internet) yet. He has had to go buy them locally (much more expensive..but much larger too). There are 5 little ones in the box. Last year they raised 3 batches. They are wonderful birds.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.
