Anyone Recognize This Moth?
Do we have a moth expert on the board? This moth lit on one of the legs of my jeans yesterday afternoon while I was visiting my brother and his wife, and when I got home, I noticed it was still there. Soooooooooo, since I had already mothnapped it, I decided to photograph it, to see if anyone could identify it.
It has a very unusual wing shape. I forgot to measure it, but I'd say the moth's body was slightly over two and a quarter inches long, (about 57 mm). Notice that there is only a stub, where it's right antennae should be.

Wow, I've never seen one like it and (of course) I'm no expert either but I'm glad you posted the picture. I've printed it out and will kill some time looking for it on the "net". If I find it I'll let you know.
Looks like a nice new pair of jeans.

I have seen that one before
I can't remember the name of it, but I have seen it. Will look it up when I get time.
Today we're off to town for a shopping trip and to get away from this crazy place. One idiot phoned at 6:00 this morning to ask for a ride to work - that made me mad.
Anyway, it's a beautiful day and we're going to get out and enjoy it.

Here's a site with photos of moths from Texas. I started looking, but dang there sure is a lot of the little critters!

You ain't just awhistlin' dixie. There must be close to a thousand of 'em, and a lot of them don't have pictures.
After wasting an hour or two going through some of those lists to no avail, it dawned on me that you've succeeded in teaching me not to ask a question like that again. LOL.
I'll just remain ignorant about that one.
Thanks,
Tex
