Celia - here is some info on SPD....

It is full of information....it explains why some people's sensory systems "over-react" (or under-react) to touch, smells, motion etc....

http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/index.html

I knew my son's "pickiness" was more than just that - a couple of years ago we went to my nephew's birthday party - he had a "Lord of the Rings"cake - lots of the frosting was grey/black (ugh!) I knew Dan would be put off by it (so was I actually, but I had the GF excuse  ) he ate about half of his piece. On the way home he kept saying how awful the black frosting was and he puked in the car. He needs his noodles "al dente" and prefers his sandwiches on toast - slimey is out - but he will try almost anything crisp/crunchy. Veggies have to be raw here, too (luckily we all prefer them that way!) He is more affected by balance, coordination, and without the visual cues, his perception is limited. I was pretty impressed with the OT's assessment.

Boy, but when you start reading about it, you start to think you have it yourself!!

Thank you SO much Mary! I will pass this on to my sister. Raw and cruncy is defnitely the only kind of food Laura will eat too. Now she has GERD and is throwing up in the middle of the night. So there's a lot of suffering going on in the family. I'm hoping this info will help a bit!

Be well, Celia
