I'm a slow learner. I lived in mortal fear of computers refusing to boot, and I eventually was forced to become an expert at figuring out how to boot computers that wouldn't boot properly. I went round and round with Norton's programs for several years, before I finally came to my senses and got a divorce.
Once I did that, it was as if a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I no longer cringed everytime I booted a computer, wondering what was going to go wrong this time. That one move, (eliminating all traces of Norton's programs from my computers), was without a doubt, the best thing that I've ever done, as far as computers are concerned. Now, my computers all boot in a matter of seconds, (not several minutes, like before), and they shut down in just a few seconds, (they don't just hang, making me wonder if they are ever going to shut down, like they did before).
For those customers who are having good luck with Norton's, I wish you all the best, but I find that it is bloatware that is an accident waiting to happen, if it is on your computer. The sad part is that it is almost impossible to completely remove all traces of Norton's programs from your computers, once it is on them. It takes some good utility programs, and sometimes manual editing of the registry, which is risky business. Just using the built in add/remove programs function in Windows Control Panel, will not remove many lines of code, that are in the registry. That in itself is sufficient reason for me to never buy another Norton's product, and to advise against it. YMMV.
Oh, did I mention that I don't like Norton's software? LOL.
