Do any of you know if Dr. Pepper/7-up sodas are all gf? I was just looking at a bottle of Sunkist orange soda, which I've been drinking a lot of lately, and it has modified food starch in it. I know I had this conversation with CAMary a long time ago about some brand of root beer, and she'd had confirmation that it was gf despite the modified food starch. But I'm wondering if that is my problem. I'm so sleepy right now I could put my head on my desk and take a nap. Of course I've been up late every night this week, and I'm reading the terms and conditions for a contract, which is one of my least favorite tasks, but probably one of the most important.

It sure sounds as though you are having a reaction. I have a heckuva time keeping my eyes open during a serious reaction. You may have found the culprit with that soda. Modified food starch is sometimes made from corn, tapioca, or potatoes, but it is often made from wheat. I wouldn't trust it, unless the company could verify that it was GF. I believe that Coke, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper/Seven-up products are generally GF. They are not corn free, of course, but that shouldn't be a problem for you.
The only soda that I can drink is Virgil's Root Beer, as it it is the only one available to me that is also corn free. I read somewhere last night, that Wholefoods sells a product called "Ancient Cola", that is free of allergens, (made with sugar, rather than corn syrup, etc.), but I don't have a store near me.

According to the compiled list on the Delphi celiac site that Alice put us on to a long time ago, it should be gf (the sunkist), but I think I'll lay off for a while. For a while I was getting chocolate milk figuring even though it had as much sugar (or close) it was better for me than soda. Sometimes it seems coke from a bottle bothers me too, but not always. Never seem to have a problem when its from a soda foundain (is that what they call them still...you know like at McD's).
This morning's coffee finally kicked in so while I'm still tired, at least my eyes are open.
