Not a taste treat

Post by celia »

The h. pylori purge herbs arrived from Seattle--- it's a mix of about 10 herbs. Eek, it is NOT a taste treat at all!!!!!!! I've taken to mixing it (a teaspon) in fresh carrot juice and chasing it with a small piece of pineapple to douse the after taste. That barely makes it tolerable.

Just started yesterday. Perhpas coincidentally, last night was the first night I was totally symptom free and even slept through the night. Hurrah!!!!

I've been taking the Thorne Formula 734, the other part of the treatment, for more than a week, and that took care of my daytime symptoms right away. So I feel like I'm on the right track. But don't know if I can stand taking the herbal mix 3x a day for 3 months!!! On the other hand, I read some gruesome stories from people with CD who took the triple antibiotic and proton pump therapy and it was pretty bad for some of them. So I'm sticking with this for now.

I have my upper endoscopy tomorrow afternoon...

Best to all, Celia

I think when I had h pylori i took a medicine called flagyl. I didn't realize you could take something else to get rid of it...

GrannyH,

I'm not sure how effective the alternative course of treatment is. I've been looking through the research and the only supplement that I've found to be effective so far, as demonstrated through research, is mastic gum and it doesn't work in all cases. I am going to talk it over with my naturopath next week and see what information she has.

The triple antibiotic therapy is something like 80-95%. It doesn't work for everyone either.

I'm just hoping the h. pylori is shaking in its boots just because of the smell/taste of the stuff I'm taking!

Hi Celia,

I've been gone so long, I'm really out of date - so you have h Pylori infection? This will be interesting to follow your progress as you get it under control. I'll be watching for updates . . . Marsha
