Any of you have much experience with vertigo? I had several spells about 5 or 6 years ago (or 7 or 8..time flies), where I would wake up with the room spinning when I rolled over. It always affected my left ear before. Well Saturday night I woke up with my right ear causing the problem. It wasn't as bad last night, but I can tell it still feels off. I was bad about my diet, and I had wine Saturday night with dinner. But I've done those things before, so I don't think its related. We were in New York helping Geoff's brother move. I'm going to pick up an antihistimine on the way home tonight, which is all they did for me in the past. Its just aggrevating is all. I haven't gotten dizzy while I'm up...only when I'm in bed.

VERTIGO
Katy------this is really very interesting---I have positional vertigo!!!
BUT---my first Xperience--many years back---was rolling over,while in a *SLEEP*and feeling like I was falling waaaaaaaay over---
I woke and screamed @ Lou---*im passing out*
In a few seconds it stopped----had it once more after that--
Now I have to be careful with *head* postions---
Cannot *bend* over the sink to wash hair--get dizzy!!
Cannot *bend* head *back* to reach for something!!!
And cannot just jump outta the bed----same thing---slight *dizziness*
Sleep with 2 pillows--
When I went to see an ENT---@ that time---he said that a *folical* in the left ear probably wasnt in the right formation???? Thus causing all this----What to do---NOTHING!!! So---I am very careful as to my movements!! And of course nothing is simply diagnosed---before seeing that ENT. one has to go for an MRI---to rule out *tumors*
Now with this new ENT. there is much to discuss~~~~
YET, I am *able* to do my YOGA without any major issues??? Figure that one!!!
Where in New York were U????
U know I am but 30 miles from the big city~~~~
Let me know how the VERTIGO----GOES----
luve Barbara----PS. to add how he determined this---
He took my head(still on my body haha) in both hands and first rolled it to the right---nothing----then rolled it to the left and thats where I felt like I was going to pass out---
He watches the eyez and sees the pupils ,I think, doing some dilating---and I said--*let me up* and of course he assured me that I wouldnt pass out!!!
Thought I would let U know that too---

Katy,
Eek, sorry to hear about the vertigo. I had 4-5 vertigo experiences just as you describe in December 2004 and January 2005. It was scary! The first time the room was spinning like crazy and I vomitted as well.
I don't know if it was related to a food I ate or not, but I frequently have pain in my left ear and probably have some sort of inner ear problem. My doctor said that this can happen sometimes when you get an accumulation of little crystals (or whatever they are) in the wrong place in your ear. She said it will usually go away over time. She also gave me a prescription strength dose of dramamine which can help avoid the vomitting part.
Like Barbara, I used two pillows and was very careful with how I slept at night. I also found that the best way to avoid aggravating an attack was just to stay really, really still when I began to feel the dizziness and vertigo coming on. If I move my head at all, it brings the vertigo on in full force. I had a few days where I just sat in a chair for several hours without moving my head!
I hope this dissolves for you. It can be so interuptive to one's life. I'm seeing auto-immunity might be effecting other systems in my body and not necessarily be restricted only to the colon when we have an MC diagnosis.
All the best, Celia

I beleive in magic!
I think that occasional bouts of vertigo may be associated with either MC reactions, or with food intolerance reactions, (which may be one and the same, for all I know), for some of us. I used to have them occasionally before I found all my intolerances, and before my gut healed.
It usually happened upon getting out of bed in the morning, but sometimes it would happen later in the day, even when I wasn't rising from a supine position. Usually, I could lie down for a few minutes, and it would diminish to where I could resume whatever I wanted to do.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
