Anyways they think it had been present for quite some time, but since it is reactive to hormones (?) they think going through IVF and her pregnancy really allowed it to "take off". They are treating her with aggressive chemo - like my mom says "hoping to buy some time so her children will at least have some memories of her". It has metastasized to the bone and the liver, so obviously the prognosis is not at all good.
My aunt's cancer followed a similar course...it seems like they could come up with a better diagnostic tool than mammograms - which I'm starting to think are not that great...How heartbreaking to have someone look at your films of past mammograms and admit - "yeah, we missed it"

Please keep Cindy, her husband and 2 young sons in your prayers...
Thanks!
Mary
