calcium carbonate

Post by thedell19 »

Hey guys-

If you didnt know calcium carbonate really helps to make stools harder. When taken at high dosses (3 tabs a day) the calcium carbonate is not fully absorbed by your bones and gets thrown into the colon. While in the colon the calcium carbonate helps to absorb the water in your intestines. When I was in mexico I took 3 a day and let me tell you I had not seen ROCKS like that in a long time. I do believe the safeway brand of calcium carbonate does not contain gluten but I have not verrified with the company yet. I will though soon. The other types of calcium dont work as well to absorb the water and do NOT get a supplement with magnesium right away since that tends to cause D in some people. I will try and find a better link to describe this-

OK cant find it at the moment but stay tuned

This morning I felt really crappy. I am thinking that I might have picked up a bug in Mexico (felt crappy on the last day there as well). My wife also is not feeling too well today either. I am going to my Gi tomorrow and am probably going to ask for Xifaxan which is an antibiotic that focuses on the intestines and is used to travelers D and such. Thanks for asking Oma!

Hi there!
You are the first person on this site (besides me, that I know of) that has also been helped by this! I take Caltrate 600 in the purple box before breakfast and dinner - anywhere from 1/2 a tab to 2 tabs, depending on how much is needed. Wow - three tablets - that would truly result in rocks! Anyway, I've taken them for probably 8 years now.

Thanks for mentioning it,
Love, Marsha
