White spots on BM mucous on TP; concerned
Well this morning again I was a bit constipated (after lowering my dose of imodium yesterday). I had a small bowel movement, formed, that looked to have a white covering on some parts of it. When I wiped there was brownish mucous on TP.
What does this mean? Anything?
Do you think it is my body getting rid of whatever bug I got from Mexico?
Is it die off symptoms from starting teh GFCF diet?
Just a bit concerned. Thank you/

I use to have mucus in my stools often. It's pretty common with MC. Don't know about the white spots though. Glad your having a colonoscopy soon. Hang in there!

As Joanna mentioned, mucus is pretty common with some people in certain stages of MC reactions. When the gut is inflammed, it produces extra mucus to act as a buffer for the mucosa, to protect it from the irritants in the fecal stream.
I'm just guessing here, but couldn't the white stuff be unabsorbed traces of calcium carbonate?

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

It is very possible that it is the calcium. I have also been eating a lot of white rice and white rice flour. The calcium changed the color of my BMs when I first started to use it.
I had another BM about 15 mins ago and the first part had white stuff on it and the rest was less formed but didnt appear to contain the white stuff. I am hoping it is just my body getting rid of the bug I had and not a reaction to lowering my Asacol by 2 per day. I was only taking 4 per day and for 3 days I have been taking 2.

There are some people on this board who have reduced their maintenance dose of Asacol to one a day, and even as low as just two or three a week, I believe, so you may be alright with the lower dose, especially if you are making progress with the diet.

I think I want to go completely off of it because I have never seen it do a darn thing.
