Q Can MC lead to cancer?
A No. There is no evidence for this at the present time.
Q Is MC caused by stress?
A Not that we know of, but stress is a definite factor in playing havoc with colitis.
Q Is MC a hereditary disease?
A It can be. Specific genes common to those with MC have been identified.
Q Is MC caused by over use of antibiotics?
A Since colitis is thought to be due to a imbalance of the good vs. bad bacteria in the colon, anything that can upset this balance, like antibiotics, can cause a flare.

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
Q Arrow Can MC be generic? Genetic?
A Arrow It appears that there does exist a genetic predispositon to MC, but the disease usually must be triggered by some traumatic event.
Q Arrow Can MC lead to cancer?
A Arrow It has been documented that untreated MC can lead to an increased risk of additonal autoimmune diseases. And, if it is marked by gluten sensitivity, there can be an increased risk of diabetes, spleen damage, and lymphoma, (cancer of the lympth nodes), among other risks, if left untreated.
Q Arrow Is MC caused by stress?
A Arrow Not that we know of, but stress is a definite factor in playing havoc with colitis.
Q Arrow Is MC a hereditary diseases?
A Arrow The genes that "allow" MC to develop, are hereditary
Q Arrow Is MC caused by over use of antibiotics?
A Arrow MC can be caused by the use atibiotics.
Mars, a bunch of these questions about the causes of MC should be lumped into a simple "What causes MC?" question. Some of them are probably in the next "batch", the way you have them divided. Also, you have the genetic/hereditary question on here twice.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Feel free to correct/change/lump together everyone! I just got the thought process going!
I'm also not sure I cut/pasted every question. I got new specs today (bi-focals) and I'm not sure I'm seeing right!
How's that for a good excuse!
me up!!!!!!
