Celia, about autoimmune disorders

Post by artteacher »

Hi Celia,

All those autoimmune things are so interrelated - and there's not much you can do about any of them, I think. I also have the cold finger thing, but it's not so extreme as to be Raynaud's. (I have a family member with it so I have someone to compare symptoms with.) True "Raynauds" is very dramatic.

I think the cause of my dry red burning eyes is Rosacea. My doc tested me for Shogruns (and I don't have it), but I have been told by a dermatologist that I have rosacea.

Anyway, rosacea is a ruddiness, rash, and acne-like condition on the face, AND for some, an inflammation of the eyes. It is a facial vascular inflammation, but it can respond to antibiotics. It's hard to treat, and no one knows what causes it, but they do know that it's more prevalent among Irish/Scandinavian/fair types, & associated with digestive disorders.

So, until later, Love,
Marsha

Marsha,

You are so right. Many of these symptoms can occur without being related to an autoimmune condition, or if they are they are often common to several different ones. I didn't mean to alarm anyone! When I read about some of these things myself, I realize how lucky I am not to have such extreme problems.

I can't remember if you ever said that you were tested for H. pylori. Dr Barry Marshal says, "There are several conditions which might be caused or worsened by H.pylori. Acne rosacea is a red skin rash on the face, it may respond to HP therapy." Dr. Marshall is the scientist (along with his partner) who discovered the link between h. pylor, gastritis, and ulcer and received a Nobel Prize in Medicine for it in 2005.

Thanks for the info! Celia

Hi again,

Yes, I did get tested, and nope, I don't have h phylori. My doctor had me take the blood test.

I'm glad you found out that you have it, because it can be treated! I hope also that by treating it you can have a more "normal" diet. It's really good that you've already noticed a difference! :peace2:

Marsha and Celia----

Talking about red eyes-----last year----the bottom of my eyes lids---had this redish look---- and being my psoriasis was in full bloom---I called the eye doc.--went in and thats what he told me---

MARSHA just what U said----Rosacea/eczema/psoriasis--
Had this ointment to use---did nothing so when I went to my DERMA. she gave me something else and they are fine----every now and again one eye seems to redden--

BUT---if U use *eye-drops* (which I did/do) make sure they say NO PERSERVATIVES!!!! These are a bit more $$$ than the little squeeze bottle but when U become sensitive then U have to swallow the $$$ and keep your eyes in good shape!!!

Another inter-related condition to auto-immune~~~~

Hi everyone,

Guess what...my sister has roseacea, to go along with her food reactions. It's decreased to the point that I never notice it now.

She's also got a slight hearing loss with tinnitis.

She had some autoimmune reactions to her own small bowel tissue to go along with the malabsorption as well.

At least i don't think she'll be getting any new ones from here on out, thanks to her big sis. Ha!

Guess I just didn't have the gene/s for the rosecea, and she wasn't old enough to get my AI problems when she was diagnosed.

Yours, Luce
