Health News on BP!!!!
On this TV health station----there was a doctor saying that the desired Blood Pressure reading now should be 117 over 70!!!!!
My popped open---cus if that be the fact then I am ready for a stroke???
Why oh why must the medical profession keep changing things--
One reads that and I would imagine *zing* goes the pressure!!
stay well
keep a smile

Hi Barb,
The Yamomamo Indians, who live in the tropical jungles of Venezuela, still lead the same type of lifestyle that many/most humans led up until about 1,000 years ago. They have an average blood pressure of 96/62 mmHg, and this does not rise as they get older. Almost everyone else in the world has significantly higher BP.
The day after my surgery, my BP dropped to somewhere in the range you mentioned, and it scared the doctor in charge enough that he ordered something be added to my IV, which then kicked the pressure way too high. After they stopped using that, it slowly dropped back down to normal. Since my doctor was alarmed enough to decide to raise my BP, I suspect he didn't think that it was in an ideal range.
That doctor on TV wasn't a member of the Yamomamo Indian tribe, by any chance, was he? LOL.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Barbara....please don't let that Doctor scare you. I think each Doctor may have thier own Idea Of what "Ideal" Means. If you are feeling ok and your Doctor is good with how your pressure is....don't worry. Mine has always been real low...only in later years has it become **Normal** whatever normal is. I must be part Yamomamo Indian because my pressure has always been anywhere from 85 to 95 over 68 to 70. And recently has been 113-122 over 75 to 80. I refuse to let any of them scare me any more. I'll ask Polly First, altho she isn't my Doctor....I do value her opinion.
By The way where did the Yamomamo Indians come from and where did they Live Tex?@#?
Love Oma

May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
They live in the tropical jungles of Venezuela. I assume that they've always lived there, but I really don't know their full history.

Mornin' All.
Oma, thanks for the vote of confidence. To return the compliment, I enjoy learning about herbs from you. I have tried the lavender for relaxation, and it really works well.
Of course, in kiddies, the BP runs lower than adults. However, as far as I know the upper limits considered "normal" for BP in adults are still 140/90. Some docs treat lower BPs but many do not. There are so many factors invovled in BP - diet, exercise, GENES (a biggie), medications, age, position (it is lower when lying than when erect), stress level, etc., that I think it would be impossible to set one specific low value to aim for.
Genes may be a major reason that tribe has such low pressure. I think I am fortunate in that regard. At my internist's last week, my BP was 104/70. But my family has always had low BP. Listen to this! My mom, who is 87 and in long term care, has a BP of 100/60. She takes no meds for this, AND, she smoked for 60 years!!! Her heart and lungs are fine, too, for her age. A lot to be said for genes, eh? Sometimes I wonder why I bothered to quit smoking.....LOL!

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Hmm they put me on blood pressure meds after the steroid OD... now it is in the range of 135/80 but my pulse is now high... used to have a pulse of about 65 now it is over 80!
Getting a cardiolyte stress test tomorrow....
They keep changing the rules on everything.. used to be cholesterol under 200 was ok now they want it at 180! Mine was 330 last time.. but the doctor thinks that something was wrong.. get it checked again in about a month... I know i need to take crestor to keep it down.. mine is high genetically.. ate rice and chicken for a year and it was still over 300 before I started crestor...
