Am I having a flare?

Post by JJ »

Oh uffda! I haven't mentioned it, but I have been having a crummy time of it for the past week or so. I have been having D again and aches in my hands. I ate some Activia yogurt...bad mistake....made things worse and it feels like there is something fermenting in my gut! Guess I don't tolerate probiotics...this seems to be having a similar effect. Tomorrow, I am going to eat only meat for a few days and see if I can't get back on track. Roughage has not been tolerable, and I am tired of feeling sick. I have been really tired too. Last week, I locked the door of my classroom and took a snooze on the floor. I keep throw pillows around for the kids, so was very comfy. I came home and took another nap! Final exams start on Wednesday and then I need to do reports. School is coming to a close, but I start teaching summer school in a few weeks...yikes...I need to be well! Thanks for letting me whine...TTFN...JJ

Ratz, Jill.

I know you want to feel your best when the foreign students arrive. When is that, BTW?

I think the meat idea is a good one for a while. It seems that most of us with food intolerances do better with meat than other foods. Let us know how it works. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Love,

Polly

I need to contact the woman at the Comm College and find out, but I think I have a student arriving on the 16th or 17th....only one this summer and then 2 in the fall. I still need to buy a bed for one of the rooms and paint too. I moved all my stuff out of the downstairs bathroom yesterday...my bathroom upstairs is fairly dark.....My make-up may look a bit strange today...hahaha.....JJ

Hi Jill,

I had to laugh - brought back memories of my classroom. Taking naps, doing art projects and making an incredible mess after the kids are gone -because you have all that space! And you're the teacher! so who's going to tell you to clean up? I was there until 5 one afternoon because I lost my keys in a bin of yarn. Home away from home.

I would do the same thing with diet, if I were you. Hope it works . . Love, Marsha

Hahahahaha...I lost a student's drawing and it turns out that I had put it in a frame behind a painting...boy am I glad I found it before I had to tear apart the art room! Keys in yarn...that cracks me up..

I have stuck to meat only today...had chicken breast meat for lunch grilled, no breading)...no snacks today either, and I broiled some steak for dinner. I feel so much better....I will try to stick to this diet for another day at least....

I had a call from the woman in charge of the International Program and my student is arriving on the 16th....direct from Japan Her English is limited, but she likes cats, art and considers herself a positive happy person. I may have another student arriving this summer too....all I have to do is paint the bedroom....buy a bed and get the chest of drawers from a friend at school....so much to do! I came home after work and taped the bedroom...will buy paint after work tomorrow. TTFN...JJ

Hi Jill. Glad you are feeling a little better. Don't want to be sick when your student arrives, Sounds like you are in for a pretty busy time ahead.

Love

I am feeling better today....but still having some D, but not as bad. I am so stressed right now, that it is no surprise that my gut finally let me know. Well, I need to start painting....TTFN...JJ

Hi Jill,

Hey, all the talk of you painting made me remember the last time I did it. I got a sinus infection and upset stomach I think because of the paint fumes: so I wanted to remind you to ventilate while you paint.

It's funny that so many of us can fix ourselves back up by going on a meat diet. You're doing exactly what I do when I get sick. Low fiber must be helpful for us, as well as a diet that minimizes bacterial growth due to sugars and carbs.

I'm just curious: do you tolerate shredded cabbage, carrots, celery also? (Because those are other things I can eat when I'm flaring). Since they contain fiber (soluble fiber?) I'm wondering if that means it's good to lightly scrub the intestinal surface with soluble fiber, but not insoluble fiber (like seed hulls, or popcorn) that might overly irritate it.

Love, Marsha
