Slow Dance

Post by starfire »

Although I sent this to a few people on this board by e-mail, I felt it was good enough to post for the ones who didn't get it.

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's
Erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun
Into the fading night?

You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won't last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?

When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?

And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die

Cause you never had time
To call and say,"Hi"

You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won't last.

When you run so fast
To get somewhere

You miss half the fun
Of getting there.

When you worry and hurry
Through your day,

It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower

Hear the music
Before the song is over.
When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber"

Morning Shirley,

This part in particular hit's home with me currently as I'm working at the shop more than usual and were trying to get all the gardens in. Since it's light out till midnight now, I've been a planting fool.

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.

I need to slow it down! Thanks for this inspiring verse and reminding me that it's really no big deal if the potatoes don't get in till this weekend. The extra week or two in the ground won't really matter all that much at harvest time. Actually, it will but what the heh?

Hope you all have a great day!

Love,
Joanna

Thanks for sharing Shirley. It makes you stop and think how life is always in the fast lane! Oh for the days when you had no worries and life was grand! I guess life is what you make of it - hopefully this will remind us to pull over into the slow lane every once in a while!

Here's to a slow ride on the merry-go-round and a slow dance every day! :toast:

Good one Shirley. Good advice for us all I think. Trouble is we don't always take it. We need to take out time & smell the roses on the way.

Too many of us are worrying about what we need to do next instead on savouring the moment.
