Tetanus shot

I need to get a tetnaus shot. Is there any possibility of gluten being in a tetanus shot? Any suggestions for how to check?

I had an accidential glutening yesterday. I beleive my first since last February. Even though it was a small amount, it's interesting how my stomach is bloated today.

Celia-

I don't think gluten in vaccines is an issue - people are usually more worried about mercury - I don't think they \"fill\" them with anything...I had a booster about 18 months ago - no problems but the site was a little sore for a couple of days...

Thanks Mary. I hope a tetanus shot is not a live virus vaccine, as MSG is one thing I react to! Celia

CELIA---go to the sight and there is an email where U can ask if it be a live virus vaccine---due to the fact that U are highly sensitive to the additive MSG!!!

Hi All!

Tetanus is not a live-virus vaccine. It is an antitoxin to the toxin made by the virus. Say What? LOL!

Just be sure that it has been 10 years since your last tetanus shot. I had one too soon and had a bad allergic reaction - you know how easily we MCers make antibodies!!!!

I just had my booster last week. It was sore for a couple of days, but not as bad as I remembered.

Thanks everyone! Glad it was better than you remember Katy.

Polly, good advice. A good reminder. I did have a reaction probably to the spray the sprayed in my nose at the ENT doctor or to the tube he put down my throat, whatever that was made of. When I got home the front of my throat around the hollow was a big circle of red. It went away after a few hours.

I had my last tetanus shot in 1991 when I went to India so I am a little overdue.
