Joana-
I used to take 4 asacol and have been taking 2 asacol since about week 1 in the diet. I am now on a 3 entocort one day and 2 the next day. I have been doing that for about 4 days (sorry I have not been so diligent of posting my recent diary).
I am tapering slowly and I will not be off the entocort during the july tests but I will be off the asacol (I have never thought asacol has done anything good).

Hi Andrew,
Is your GI suggesting your daily doses of meds, or is this your plan?
How are you feeling these days? Hoping your having normal BM's by now. Keep pluggin away on your diet- your doing a good job.
Love,
Joanna

I am actually taking it slower than what my GI said to do just in case. Each week brings better days but I have a not so good day every now and then. My BMs are getting better each week. I usually have less brain fog which is good since I start my new job on Monday!! I never really tolerated peanut butter very well but about 3 days ago I ate some peanut butter cookies and had no ill effects. I think that is showling progress. I have been real busy lately and have not been able to keep up with my daily log, but nothing really changes just yet except for those cookies. Mmmm they were good!

also my last batch of muffins I used very very ripe bananas, some parts of the peel was black and I thought the riper the bananas the better they are to make banana bread and such

Ok so a lot has been going on lately!
I started my job and I am liking all the people I am working with. I think this is a great company and they really treat you well if you show you are dedicated.
My diet has been mostly the same with a few additions. For breakfast I am eating Vans Waffles about 3 days a week with a slice of bacon... yeah I can tolerate bacon now! Lunches are mostly the same, except now I have bacon with my wraps. Dinners are relatively the same and I have added a few deserts. Homemade snickerdoodles and pecan sandies bars.
I was away this past weekend in Maryland attending a friend wedding. had no problem making my own food at my parents and in-laws places. I kept it relatively simple and only cooked on the grill and on stainless steal.
I went to restaurant that has a GF menu yesterday with my co workers. It was a pizza, sub and salad place and they made GF pizza crust and flatbread for the salads. They have a website that talks about the steps taken to eliminate cross contamination (separate baking stones, separate utensils, etc). I told the waitress I had a gluten and dairy intolerance and I was able to leave off the cheese and I made sure the chef new I had the same intolerance to dairy as I do with gluten and pay attention to cheese cc. The meal was very good. I had a white pizza (olive oil as the sauce) with chicken, red and yellow peppers and artichoke hearts. As usual the red and yellow peppers didnt really agree with me and this morning I had 2 bowel movements the first being normal and the second being cigar like. At least it wasnt D, right?
I have tapered my asacol down to 1 one day and 2 the next. Entocort is down to 2 a day from 3, and imodium is on average 3 times a day (I upped it to 4 while back in maryland). So on average I have 1 bowel movement a day and they are stone like, about the size of bressel sprouts so I think I still may be overdoing it on the imodium still, but I want to taper slowly off of that and use that as a crutch when I come off of Entocort.
My colonoscopy is next Friday- so hopefully all will go well with that. I am afraid of the chances of the prep having gluten. I am using Half-Lytly or something like that; but I figure if it does have gluten I have the whole weekend to recover and I could take Monday off as well. Does anyone know if Half Lytly is GF?
So that is my update. I am going to try and get back into the daily log again since I will be introducing new foods after my c scope. Overall I think the diet is going well.
hope everyone is doing well!

Sounds like you are doing well with the diet but I can't imagine still taking so much imodium.
Another thing I wondered about while reading a previous post is how in the world can you tell what the Asacol might be doing while taking Entocort and imodium?
I'm not trying to be nasty here. I just don't see how you can tell what is actually helping and what isn't.
To each his own.........................
Keep on with the diet.
Love, Shirley

YAY Terps!
You are really making progress! Almost no D! Fantastic.
Is the GF restaurant a chain? A great find.
I'm pretty sure the swamp juice is GF.....and free of almost all triggers actually. Good luck with the colonoscopy.

Polly

I've been thinking about that too. I'd wager that at this point Andrew could stop the asacol and immodium altogether without any problems. In fact, it might improve his BM's. I'm NOT suggesting this Andrew, just thinking out loud while responding to Shirleys comment.starfire wrote:Another thing I wondered about while reading a previous post is how in the world can you tell what the Asacol might be doing while taking Entocort and imodium?
The colonoscopy is right around the corner and it will be interesting to see the results. UC or MC? Inquring minds want to know.
Congrats on being so diligent on your diet Andrew! It will all pay of in the long run.

Joanna
