Crap - UTI....

Post by CAMary »

Darn it - I've got some symptoms of a bladder infection. I just got back from the lab where I left my *specimen*. My doc's office will call when they get the results and call in my 'scrip.

:hissyfit: Wahh! The :nurse: was very nice and faxed the slip to the lab so I don't have to go to the office and pay a co-pay - but I don't want to take an antibiotic! Now I'll have to go load up on probiotics and cross my fingers that I don't get a bad D reaction from the meds...

Of course I'm putting the cart before the horse - but I've *never* had my sample come back *negative* when I suspect an infection - plus I've been drinking tons since Sunday - when I had the first inkling - which often helps - but not this time...

We are supposed to leave for Wyoming in 9 days - I don't need this - nor will I enjoy the yeast infection that the antibiotics will likely cause....ok pity party over...off to :pepsi: water/cranberry juice

Hope everyone else is having a better day!

Hi Mary,

I feel for you - what a bummer. I've had many UTI's over the years, and can always tell I've got one before the lab says I do.

I've never had a D reaction from the antibiotics though - hope you can avoid the added misery!

What ever the doc always gave me for UTI's I always drank Cranberry juice with it. My Mom was a nurse and she made us do that as kids and I kept it up after I grew up.
Hope you get over it soon. Love Oma

So sorrry, Mary. UTI's are no fun and especially with MC and I hope you will be OK with whatever treatment you have. Perhaps you will get lucky.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone! I expect to hear back today (nurse said the lab needs 48 hours) my doc likes to do a culture and give specific antibiotics instead of broad spectrum - which is good, but the waiting is hard :toilet3: I am fortunately not *too* miserable - I don't have the horrific pain that sometimes just goes with - just urgency (and nasty-looking, cloudy urine - TMI, LOL!). Doesn't help that this is the 3rd day of 95+ temperatures - we're ALL drinking lots and running to the bathroom, lol!

Buy stock in Ocean Spray, everyone

Look on the bright side...at least you know your family is drinking enough in that retched heat! Doesn't help does it?

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Mary. Hope it clears up soon. My Urologist said the fairly frequent problems I have had in that area were because D caused irritation all over that area & sometimes it is an infection & other times just the irritation. I take cranberry juice each day too oma, my doc put me on to it ages ago. I think it really does help. You can get cranberry capsules also but I enjoy the drink.

Love

Liz
