How I got excused from jury duty today******

Post by annie oakley »

We Jurors were sitting there listen to the judge talk to us, he said if any of you have an excuse or an exemption from jury duty, line up over there by the baliff,,,,,about 6 of us did, and the rest of the group was told to take a 30 min break while the judge heard our reasons.
Whe it came to my turn I simply stated my name as asked, and the reason I wanted to be excused. I said I will stay if you want but I have Colitis and may need to leave the court at any given time without so much as a by your lieve. He said Mrs. Pettigrew I think I just need to Excuse you from this duty. I said thank you picked up my money and paper for my employers and :driving: to the grocery store and then :driving: home. Wahoo! Besides it was a sexual assault case I didn't really want to be on anyway. Judge said he was going to use this jury that got picked for at least a couple days for more than One case.

Hi Oma,
I wouldn't like a sexual assault case either. When I was on jury duty I learned that no one tells the truth. The defense lawyer paints one picture, the prosecution paints the opposite picture, and the truth is probably somewhere in between. It was interesting but you were right to get excused for the colitis--it's a lot of staying in one place without the liberty to leave!

Good for you, Oma. No, sexual assault would be tough for me, too.
