Long Time No SEE!!!
Hi All!!!!!
I'm sorry I've been absent lately.. Unfortunately the tech support job I took was not as stress-free as I'd planned, and is taking up a good deal of my time :(. I'm now on pager duties as well so I'm on call 24/7.
I've been doing pretty well lately, still GF, EF and mostly DF and SF. I've been trying a little dairy and soy here and there, just so I can LIVE with myself, because frankly I have too many cravings to ignore LOL. As long as I only have a little here, a little there, it doesn't seem to make me sick, and I do fine :)
Our newest venture is that we've decided to try to have a baby!!!! :) No luck yet but I'll let you know when we hit the jackpot ;). We're a little scared of what this means for the baby right after it's born, since babies have their mother's immune system (and issues) for awhile after birth - we either have to breast-feed or find a formula that has sufficient nutrients and doesn't have anything I can't have in it, and with my diet, I'm really not so sure about breast-feeding, but I'd rather give that a try. I still take the USANA vitamins daily and use the Rice Protein powder which is also chock full o vitamins, so I should* be safe to go that route.
Other than that, Kids and Hubbie are all doing fine, kids growing like weeds. Got the TT painted a BEAUTIFUL color (see the following link for pics..), and are currently in the process of adding a big turbo kit and a few other things.

How are you all doing? I'd love to catch up on all the posting but there is SO MUCH since I've been here!!!! Miss you all!!!! I'll try to stop by to read posts a bit later :)
Love,
Christine

Hi Christine,
Yes it has been a while since you were here. It's good to hear from you again. I've been wondering about the treatment that you mentioned the last time you were here, for the lower back/leg pains that you were having. Were you able to resolve that problem?
You mentioned eating a little dairy and soy occasionally. You might be interested to know that I am now able to eat dairy products and corn, (in two more months, I will have been GF for 4 years). Apparently when the gut finally heals, some of us can add certain food items back into the diet.
Thanks for the update, and good luck with your plans for a new addition to the family, (including the installation of the new turbo kit).
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Wayne, Peg and Sally :)
Wayne, I've had similar thoughts regarding my diet. Looking back, when I originally eliminated a bunch of things, I also had a bum gallbladder that was yet undiscovered. I think that would cause me to react to things a lot more, and I'm hoping to slowly ease back into Dairy and Soy. Egg I've always had issues with and I'm willing to let that one go.. Gluten.. *shudder* I don't think I could ever knowingly eat something w/Gluten in it ever again just because I know how sick I've gotten from it, within an hour, and I thought I was going to die.. it makes me sick to think about, so NO THANKS!!!!
So tell me Wayne, when you eased back into Dairy and Corn, how did you do it? Did you eat a certain amount a day for a certain # of days? How did you react initially? Did you get diarrhea and the works for awhile till you developed the enzymes? Or did you take OTC enzymes? I've thought of taking those but hey, if I can't create 'em myself, it's not meant to be in my opinion..
Peg, where are these wonderful pictures??? :) (probably the pic gallery right? I'll go look.. it's been a LONG time since I've been here!)
Sally, HA HA!!!!! That banana does pretty good to help us stop! lol It's actually a porsche brake caliper (in front only). We painted the back ones to match but they don't match so well.. so we're probably going to repaint. Not sure we'll keep 'em yellow or not :)
Great to see you all :)

Christine

That car just LOOKS fast. Watch out for the POlice.
I got myself a new car, too. It's a 1964 Carrol Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. Unfortunately, it's only about 12 inches long. It sits on my dresser. That was a darn nice car, though. I knew somebody who had one. A real one. It was fun to ride around in.

Sally
Holy Cow!! I just looked at the specs on your TT. That IS a nice car!!!!!

Christine,
Concerning reintroducing those food items--I didn't have a very sophisticated program. LOL. I just tried some tortilla chips one day and didn't seem to have any noticable issues, so I tried it again in a few days. After a couple more random trys, I tried eating them every day, and didn't have any problems, so then I tried some milk. The first time or two, I had a little bit of discomfort, and a slight headache, which might have just been a coincidence. Then I tried some cheese, without incident, and some ice cream, and after a month or so, I had to cut the ice cream back out of my diet again. Not because it made me sick, but because it was making me fat. LOL.
Actually, back last fall, I did a 3 day rotation diet trial, just to check it out, and found that I could eat virtually anything I wanted, (except for gluten, of course), as long as I didn't eat it more than once every three days. That trial had to be cut short, though, when I had to have ememgency surgery due to a blockage in my sigmoid colon. I don't know if my rotation diet trial had anything to do with that or not. The blockage was caused by a stenosis in my sigmoid colon, which I believe was caused by diverticular colitis. The pathologist diagnosed my problem as acute diverticulitis, but the problem with that diagnosis is that I didn't have any of the clinical symptoms of diverticulitis, (no pain or fever, etc.). Besides, diverticulosis is a bulge in the colon wall, not a stenosis, for Pete's sake.
I tried taking an enzyme supplement a little over a year ago. The very first capsule made me sick as a dog, so I never tried them again.

Wayne
