Get ready Tex, here it comes!!
Unless it has already got there. I read a forcast that siad we can expect up to an inch of rain for south central Texas. There was an expectation of rain all week.....I know it's my story. We need a smiley that says "what was I thinking?" Anyway here's hoping we both get some rain out of it. Love Oma

We're still dry here, and there's no rain in sight. I think it's pretty much over for a few days. We haven't received a drop of rain in at east the last 10 days or so.

Down here on the coast, we've had clouds and more clouds, but at least in our area, we've just had nice little rains for the grass, no flooding as anticipated, and with the cloud cover, it wasn't even up to 85 today, at least not for long. We've had several days that have been relatively cool, considering the season, and it's expected to continue for a while.
Bad side effect of all this is the skeeters!
I heard the fogging truck the other day, but we've not noticed a bit of difference in the skeeter population as of yet.
They usually will come back in time to catch the remaining ones from the first fogging before they are mature enough to produce any more of those critters, but I've got a feeling that even the second one won't be adequate -- you can stir 'em with a stick!
I don't remember the last time I've seen this many of 'em! Hopefully, this won't last for long. Meantime, we avoid getting out around dusk as that's when the Culex tends to bite. Sure hope none of THOSE are the ones we see and FEEL in the house. Sure don't want encephalitis cause I've already had meningitis, and that was bad enough! Awful, would be a better way to put it.
Anyway, there always seems to be a down side to everything, even rain, but we need it, and everything here looks absolutely lush, particularly since lots of light gets through our tornado- damaged trees nowadays. Branches and leaves have a way of fillling in every space, so would imagine that it won't be long before the yard is shady again. I'd like a nice balance.
Talked to a friend up in Ft.Worth last night. She said that, in spite of the clouds and predictions there, that her yard hadn't gotten a drop. The green line runs between Ft. Worth and Dallas, so they may as well be in West Texas.
She said that that area had not been so dry since the 30's. Dallas, on the other hand, has supposedly gotten some rain.
We'll see what develops tomorrow -- still high prediction of rain chances for the holiday, Tuesday.
