Hi everyone,
Well, today was "back to work day" after 10 days off. It was fabulous! We got the front flowerbeds/stone patio area finished before the 4th (I pushed Larry to finish it) and it is just so peaceful! I had a squirrel on the birdfeeder the other day - he was trying like the dickens to get the feed but wasn't able to get to it. Silly thing, hanging upside down by one foot! Pretty funny.
I started getting a sore throat on Saturday - figures huh! I was able to make an appointment today when I called (rare!) and described my symptoms - large white "thingies" on my tonsils! YE GADS! I have TONSILLITIS - can you believe that! My throat is very swollen, so is the lymph node on the right side, ears hurt - Feel really crappy but no temperature. I started on Z-Pac for the next 5 days, I think it is. CRAP - and I can't miss any work - I just took 10 days off!
I'm curled up with the puter and a book and alternating between the two tonight.
Hoping everyone has a terrific evening!
Love,
Mars

Mars,
Well that's a bummer. Since only around 15% of tonsillitis cases are caused by bacteria, I'm kinda surprised that your doctor gave you an antibiotic, but at least the Z-pak shouldn't hurt anything. (MC-wise).
I hope it doesn't get any worse, and it goes away ASAP.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Mars, get yourself some banana popsicles (or whatever flavor you prefer.)
What do they do with adults who have tonsilitis? I had mine out when I was 8 and I got to recover in my grandmother's big brass bed. Sucking on the above mentioned popsicles. But now???
I am so sorry. I know it hurts!

Hi Tex, thanks for the well wishes - Doc says that it was far enough along that the z-pac was necessary. In order to save on the strep swab, he just gave me the antibiotic. I have chronic bronchitis and get strep and tonsilitis quite frequently and have most of my life. This was to get a handle on it before it became full-blown strep, I think.
Anyways, I can take z-pac without any MC problems and he has that marked in my chart. I'm also allergic to penicillin which is usally perscribed, I believe. Hopefully it will be gone in a day or two. The z-pac usually works pretty fast for me.
