Post by Maureen »

Hello everyone,

sorry I have been away....
saw headache specialist for the 1st time on June 28th.....
she stopped all my med.'s.....tylenol and Vicodin.
She let me take my Amerge (prescription "Triptan") for 4 days than every other day for 4-6 days..
PROBLEM.....I couldn't go more than 24-30 hours without needing pain med. :bricks:
Emergency room one night.....IV narcotics and anti-nausea med.
Dr. said big mistake!
Dr. took me off everything.....I'm having serious withdrawal and restlessness. :hissyfit:
Ice pick headache and "D" big time 3 nights ago.....
Dr. put me on a 3 day withdrawal med. "Migranal" nasal spray 3 times/day for 3 days....
HELP! this is torture.....
I do keep my positive attitude through it all and thank you for listening!

Love,
Mo

Oh, Mo!!!!

I can't imagine what you must be going through!!!

Did the Dr. give you any idea how long you will have to endure this before you are given some help?

I am soooooooooo sorry!!!

Wish I could give you some good advice...unfortunately, I don't know any.

Hi Mo,

Sorry to hear of the torture you're going through to try to resolve the migraine problems. When you say "Dr.", I assume you're referring to the headache specialist. Are you confident that she is capable or coordinating all of your autoimmune issues with the treatment that she recommends?

Her treatment sounds a lot like the old "learn to swim" routine, where someone throws you into the water and yells "start swimming!". I hope she knows what she's doing.

I hope you start seeing some success soon, because you are putting up with a lot, in the meantime. Please keep us updated.

Love,
Tex

Mo I am so sorry for the trouble you have right now.....hopefully the torture won't last long and this doc can get you feeling better soon. I have had migraines all my life so I can identify with the pain thing. No fun at all. Love Oma :mallet:

So sorry to hear how bad things have been. I have only had a few migraines, now as soon as I get the flashing lights in my eyes I take a pill and lie down. Even when I was working, I would lie down in the closet!

You definitely need relief from the pain--I hope the dr. can come up with something. Can it possibly be a food allergy? My fingers are crossed that things get better.

Thank-you everybody! :bigbighug:

I'm supposed to be over the worst in 2 weeks....4 - 8 weeks before I see significant reduction in my headaches.....

I saw a chiropractor for the 1st time yesterday....they seem confident they can help with many of my issues....took xrays and health history....I go back today to review the films to see if I have any subluxations.

Felt great yesterday....It's probably the Migranal they gave me for withdrawal.....took full advantage of the day....several loads of laundry....baked a cake....took my kids to the mall....played cards with them and last night we watched "Flight Plan".............

I want EVERYDAY to be like yesterday!

I can sympathize with withdrawal. Went through it to get off prednisone. It was AWFUL.

I am so glad that you felt so good yesterday. You will have more days like that and pretty soon, they will all be like that.

Love,

Sally

Hi Maureen,

Me, too. Had withdrawal from prednisone, like Sally. It sure makes you appreciate what so many people go through with chemo, radiation, back problems - other chronic pain conditions, doesn't it? Having problems like we do with MC has made me a more empathetic person. I was glad to read that you had such a good day and were out with the kids . .
